#32 Clyde Vollmer

#32 Clyde Vollmer

30.7% complete

"His Walk About" - Clyde Vollmer has ten major league seasons to his name between 1942-52.  In three of those seasons he appeared in over 100 games.  He also appeared in 12 games or fewer in three seasons.  He retired with 508 hits, 69 home runs, and a .251 career average.

"That's Not a Knife" - It's a red hot July.  During a 21 game stretch with the Red Sox in 1951, Vollmer collected 31 hits, 13 homers, and drove in 40 runs, earing himself the nickname "Dutch the Clutch."

"More of a love bite really..." - There's some sort of stain on the lower left corner of the front of this card, but it's not too distracting.

"Down Under" - Clyde is card #255 in the 1952 set.  Both the '52 and '53 are very nice looking cards, and very similar pictures, but I think I slightly prefer the '53.  That extends the '53 set's lead to 32-27-7.
