#184 Hal Brown

19.7% complete
"His Walk About" - Hal made 211 starts over fourteen seasons with five different teams. Hal posted a career record of 85-92 with a 3.81 ERA. He spent the bulk of his career, 8 seasons, as a Baltimore Oriole, winning 10 or more games in three of those years.
"That's Not a Knife" - It's a nickname that wouldn't fly today. Hal was dubbed "Skinny," by his parents due to the fact that he was a chubby child. He grew out of it, clocking in at a lean 6'2'' 180lbs during his playing days.
"More of a love bite really..." - The crease running across the top left corner may be the biggest defect this card has, but it's far from it's only defect. It's off-centered, has well rounded corners, color fading, and everything else you'd expect from a card printed 67 years ago.
"Down Under" - Hal doesn't have a card in the 1952 set. I believe this is his "rookie card." That keeps the '53 set's lead at 25-18-5.
